The Rector Writes … Fiona Robinson

Last Summer, Fiona Robinson – who is known to may of us at St.Mary’s Church and St.Catherine’s Church – was ordained as Deacon after many years of training.

Since then, Fiona has served as Curate of St.John’s Church, Chelford & St.Peter’s Church, Lower Withington & All Saints’ Church, Marthall.

As is customary for most Deacons, Fiona will be ordained as priest this Summer. This will take place at Chester Cathedral on Saturday 2nd June at 5pm with those attending asked to be seated between 4.00pm and 4.30pm.

A coach was hired to take a party from this benefice to Fiona’s ordination last year, but despite initial enthusiasm, not all who indicated interest in joining the coach party actually did so. It was touch and go whether we would break even on the cost to St.Mary’s Church of hiring the coach and a lot of my time was taken up in finding passengers to fill seats.

I will hire a coach for this year but only if 20 people commit to travel on the coach by the end of Sunday 22nd April. I anticipate that the cost per passenger will be similar to last year at £16 per person: there may be a small increase. Please let me know on 01625 585440 or email vicar@jkcahale.co.uk

Whether or not you plan to travel by coach (if we do hire a coach) please let me know by the end of April if you will attend Fiona’s ordination so that seats may be reserved.

Please pray for Fiona as she prepares for 2nd June.
